Company description

Our first products were born in the cellar of the oldest bio-dynamic farm in New York State 20 years ago.

What began as a creative solution to a bumper crop of cabbage slowly grew into a separate mission-based company focused on fermented foods.

With the enthusiastic support of a handful of mission aligned partners, our team converted a former plastic factory in Hudson, NY into a modern SQF certified fermentation facility.

Job description

Hawthorne Foods is seeking a dynamic Sales Coordinator looking to build a mission driven career in the Organic Food & Beverage Industry. 

The Sales Coordinator will be a key partner to the CEO in growing, and supporting, sales across all channels. Work will vary from customer outreach, to customer setup, broker support, marketing support, field sales and more. Successful candidates will be highly organized, detail oriented, and passionate about building relationships for/across a truly mission based for profit company. 

The Job:

  • Lead on sales, merchandising, and marketing support
  • Develop strong relationships with buyers, chefs, store employees, brokers + distribution partners 
  • Increase sales velocity with existing customers + secure new accounts
  • Lead the onboarding process for new customers
  • Enter and update customer records in CRM software
  • Build a "on brand" in store demo program, manage demo teams, and occasionally perform 
  • Participate in local, regional, and national food industry events 
  • Support product sample distribution and organization, including some e-commerce fulfillment
  • Share in customer service support
  • Provide support to the CEO across Commercial activities (Sales + Marketing) as needed


Location: Largely remote (~50%+ in the field) with intermittent work onsite in Hudson, NY


Your Skills:

  • Highly organized
  • Passionate problem solver
  • Knowledge, and passion for, food systems + impact
  • Great at working a room (people person)
  • Commercial experience with a CPG food and/or beverage brand
  • Resourceful, responsible, tenacious, independent, and self-confident
  • Strong computer skills 
  • Comfortable w/ Google Workspace, Copper CRM, SquareSpace, Adobe Creative Suite a plus
