Job description

We are looking for a motivated Produce Sales Manager to join us in the marketing and selling of our products.

 

Produce Sales Manager responsibilities include: developing marketing strategies, procuring and managing Client relationships, and developing business goals based on present and future market trends. To be successful in this role, you should be a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker with excellent communication skills and knowledge of the fresh produce market.

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits, commensurate with experience. The role requires weekly presence on the Farm, located in Peconic, NY.
 

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • New business development 
  • Manage sales strategy and contracts in the wholesale market, including current Client base
  • Management of logistics and transportation
  • Negotiate raw product contracts with buyers and brokers
  • Create custom market and sales reports for distribution
  • Communicate effectively with buyers to ensure timely deliveries
  • Facilitate the development of new buyers
  • Evaluate and select buyers based on their ability to purchase product
  • Work with other parts of the Farm to determine volume needs or consumer preference
 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in produce sales or brokering, specific experience of fresh produce preferred
  • Proven ability to develop successful business models and marketing strategies
  • Existing book of business
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Team oriented
  • Excellent and effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Effective negotiation, problem solving, and follow-through skills
  • Computer skills with Google Drive and Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work remotely or from a home office
