About the team The School of Psychological Science is responsible for the research training of over 130 PhD students, many of whom have been awarded PhD scholarships. The School is research intensive with internationally recognized expertise in Human Factors, Industrial and Organisational Psychology, Perception, Cognition, Developmental Psychology, Social and Personality Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Clinical Neuropsychology. About the opportunity You will undertake collaborative research as part of the Wellcome Trust-funded project “Remaking One Health: Decolonial approaches to street dogs and rabies prevention in India” (ROH-Indies). This interdisciplinary project investigates why rabies persists as a public health problem in India, building on research that suggests that the answer might lie in insufficient understanding of everyday people-dog relations. It combines social psychology with human geography, history, and behavioural ecology to study the socio-cultural and environmental factors that structure people-dog interactions, dog ecology, and rabies prevention efforts in urban and rural India. It seeks to generate insights for making One Health initiatives more effective and ethical and will partner with public health practitioners to develop rabies prevention interventions that are socio-culturally appropriate (for more, see https://rohindies.org/).
